Lightspeed Venture Partners “is a multi-stage venture capital firm focused on accelerating disruptive innovations and trends.” This project was all about tellling their origin story and bringing the human element to the forefront.

This story was specifically about how Barry Eggers, Ravi Mhatre, Peter Nieh, and Jeremey Liew evolved from a group of four ambitious venture capitalists, to an globally-based company with eleven international offices and countless partners. My team had more creative freedom than usual on this project, and creating a script that could encompass a multi-decade (including 2000 dot com bubble burst, the 2008 financial crisis, and the 2020 COVID pandemic) and multi-continent story was the first challenge. We are lucky enough to have developed a high collaborative process where everyone is contributing creative input from day one, which is my absolute favorite way to work.

This project helped me level up my storyboarding process in a major way. Through working in the motion design industry, I’ve come to value pre-production work more than ever. Spending as much time developing the script, art direction, and storyboards as creating the final art resulted in a video I’m so proud of.
